3.14 Pi Day

As I was putting Jane down for a nap this afternoon I was thinking about Pi Day. Pi Day has a special place in my heart because of my love of pie and the fact that Jeff proposed to me on Pi Day six years ago. Our romantic date may have been pushed back because Jeff was competing in a calculus integral bee. But he did win enough money to pay for dinner so that counts for something, right? As I was reminiscing I thought about how much has changed in a year. Take a look at these pictures and you will get the idea.

In 2013 Jeff was doing a year of research with regular 8-5 job and no homework. This meant we had a lot of free time. So naturally we made a lot of good food. We also decided to enter a Pi Day contest online with our Three Point One S'mores Pi. Jeff came up with the recipe and I took the pictures. This was a very serious project; we played to win. It took us three days of baking, picture taking/editing, and writing to complete. Here's the description:

"Who doesn’t love s’mores? Campfire-toasted marshmallows, milk chocolate, and crispy graham crackers make a delightfully messy treat. This recipe draws on the classic campfire treat, but refines it with a rich chocolate custard, vanilla bean marshmallow créme, and browned butter graham cracker crust."

Now take a look at our Pi Day 2014 attempt. It's pretty sad, I can admit it. A fluffernutter cream pie. It has four ingredients whipped together and poured into a store bought graham cracker crust. It took us five minutes and I only took pictures to compare the two. Let's just say our priorities have shifted a bit. Between playing with Jane, working on my art business, Jeff in school and releasing his first app, we have been keeping busy. And we still find time to make good food on the weekends. And by "we" I mean Jeff with a little help from Jane and me.
