Graduation

Yay! We're graduates!

My parents came all the way from Washington for graduation. We had a lot of fun with them while they were here.

Jeff's parents also came to witness the event.

Sunny was one of my favorite art teachers. I took two painting classes from her.

Dr. Gray is pretty much amazing.

McCall and I showed up to class one day both dressed up like men with afros. She was Bob Ross and I was Dale Chihuly. Great minds think alike!

Some of my Art Education friends.

Jeff and I are officially graduated! I finished school last December but BYU doesn’t have any graduation ceremonies in the middle of the school year. I probably wouldn’t have even gone if Jeff hadn’t graduated in April. We planned it out to make it less painful too. I borrowed a cap and gown from a friend. Jeff got permission to walk at my convocation so that we only had to sit through one. It was also a lot smaller than his college so we cut off an extra hour there. The program started at 8 AM making it possible to beat all the traffic and miss the parking problems. All in all it was great. It was also fun to see some of my friends for the last time.

My Amelia is Home!

Amelia got off her mission last week and I was pretty excited to see her. I was afraid I wouldn't get to since I had to work the day she was in Provo. Luckily she was able to stop by for an hour before she flew home on Sunday. It was so fun to talk to her! I've missed my Amelia! We've done so many fun things growing up together. And we even survived being roommates for three years. :)

Today was my last day of spring break. I really didn't do anything too exciting this week, but I managed to do something productive today. I painted this flower on one of my canvases I've been saving. A lot of times I will make a painting based on an empty wall in my house, but today I just wanted to paint. My art is starting to pile up! I guess I'm just holding on to all of them in hopes of living in a house with more walls to fill someday.

Easter

I got strep throat the Thursday before Easter and Conference. I blame it on those germ infested first graders I taught last week. They are so cute but they hang all over you, always touching you and pulling on you. It's funny to me because the temp agency I work through says you aren't supposed to touch the students at all. The person that made that rule obviously never taught kindergarten or first grade. Apparently an employee dislocated a shoulder from a high five so they had to crack down on the policy. I do my best but it is hard to keep those kids in their own space. I'm a little bit of a germaphobe and constantly wash my hands and even have hand sanitizer in my car. Can you blame me? Substituting means a new school every day. When I teach specialty classes, junior high, or high school I can see up to hundreds of kids in one day. That means a lot of germs. I've been really lucky so far and haven't even had a cold. I guess it was just a matter of time until I got sick. Jeff has been doing a wonderful job taking care of me. Cooking, cleaning the house, making sure I get my medicine. Today I have been feeling much better. It is still hard to swallow, which makes eating difficult, but I can talk for short periods of time without feeling like my swollen uvula is going to choke me. Last night as we were going to bed, Jeff told me he hid Cadbury eggs in the house for me to find in the morning. I was so excited! They are my all time favorite candy. I didn't even suspect a thing. I've been so out of it the past few days. Thankfully he didn't hide them too hard. Later in the day we talked about what kind of traditions our families had for Easter. I really want to make sure we have good traditions in our home that make the holiday special. I have a feeling most of them will revolve around food. But anyone that knows us could probably guess that already.
